Unwrapping the Magic: Christmas Decor Trends for 2023

As the holiday season approaches, we've been glued to social media, witnessing the new 2023 Christmas trends coming to life in homes across the UK.

While taking a quick break from decorating our office, we thought we'd share the top 5 trends for Christmas interiors this year.

BUT, WHICH ARE YOUR FAVOURITES?

“At Little Barn Door, we're all about blending the charm of tradition with a dash of contemporary magic to create spaces that radiate warmth and timeless allure” - Natalie Evans, Founder & CEO

BUT what is trending on social media so far this season?

Let’s take a look.

1.Eco-Chic Charms

This year, hearts are beating green with an embrace of sustainable elegance.

In fact, sustainability will be at the core of 2024 for many Little Barn Door projects - watch this space!

Sustainability doesn’t have to mean “shabby” or preloved; it simply means looking at style from a different angle.  Picture this, twine wrapping or recycled paper ornaments gently swaying in the winter breeze, and energy-efficient LED lights casting a gentle glow.

Sustainability and Eco cheer are all about creatively celebrating the season while keeping Mother Earth in mind.

2. Vintage Whimsy Meets Modern Chic

Nostalgia always takes centre stage for us at Christmas time, filling the home with items associated with memories of love and laughter.

But, 2023 is all about pairing these with a touch of modern flair.

We’ve seen some beautiful examples of these this year -  mid century glass baubles paired with statement neighbouring decorations to add a contemporary twist.  Mixing old and new creates a look that's as timeless as it is trendy.

3. Diverse Tapestry of Delight

What better time to show yourself off than through your Christmas decor.

This year, we're weaving a tapestry of global traditions into our homes, using our tree as a canvas to show off everything from travels and culture to passions and hobbies. From Scandinavian wooden wonders to the vibrant hues of Mexican papel picado, we are loving seeing the rich mosaic of festive joy that people are sharing in their homes this year.

4. Monochrome and JEWEL TONE Elegance

Bid adieu to the classic red and green!

While at Little Barn Door we love the traditional colours of Christmas, we are excited to see more people embracing monochromatic marvels and gem stone riches .

From black and white elegance to the jewel tone fusions of emerald green and sapphire blue,  a playful yet sophisticated palette adds a dash of glamour to your holiday season.

5. Going big

Over the past few years, Christmas decor in the UK is getting bigger.

Following in the footsteps of the picture-perfect Hallmark Christmas movie homes, we are seeing more UK residences go bigger in their decorating efforts.

One of our favourite American holiday decor influencers are the Houghton family at Turtle Creek Lane. Their wow factor seasonal styling brings a smile to each holiday.

With so much more variety available again this year, we’re excited to watch everyone’s homes coming to life in this festive season.

Whether you are recreating an “on trend” Christmas style or opening precious Christmas treasures, we hope that this year’s decorations bring you joy.
